You trained for one career. You’re qualified for many.
SciBloom helps scientists discover careers that suit them, recognise the strengths they already bring, and see what stands between them and the career they want.
Across Europe, most researchers with a PhD build their careers beyond the traditional academic track. SciBloom is built for them.
The problem
So why is it so hard to know what comes next?
It is not a knowledge gap. Researchers are trained to find information, evaluate evidence, and make decisions under uncertainty. The problem is that the infrastructure around academic careers was built for one destination, and almost nothing was designed to help you navigate anywhere else.
- No clear picture of what roles actually exist beyond the traditional track
- No framework for translating years of research into skills employers recognise
- No reliable way to know if you are qualified, which skills are missing, or where to start
- No dedicated guidance for a job search that looks nothing like an academic one

From the founder
Built by someone who made the same journey (and is still on it)
I did my PhD in molecular biology at Heidelberg University. When I defended, I had no clear picture of the professional options open to me. A manager helped me see my transferable skills, and that changed everything. I moved into product management at Springer Nature, then worked as Strategy Officer at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), and now I’m becoming a founder.
Notice the non-linear career path. That is the point. Careers, especially for researchers, are rarely a straight line to a single destination. Most of us build them beyond the traditional academic track. SciBloom is built around that reality: it helps you find careers that fit the work you enjoy, and see which of your skills carry over.
Every researcher deserves the tools to navigate their journey with confidence.

Shape SciBloom with us
SciBloom is being built by scientists, for scientists. Researcher experience and feedback will shape it into something genuinely useful for this community.
Access is open. Create your account, try it with your own CV, and tell us what works and what doesn’t.
SciBloom is still in development (that’s what the Beta label means), so what you tell us decides what we build next.

For universities and organisations
We share your goal: helping researchers find a career that fulfils them. We know how daunting that search can feel, and we’d love to make it easier. Working alongside your institution, SciBloom would give each researcher a first map of careers beyond the academic path, built from their own CV and preferences, so your advisers can pick up the conversation from there. SciBloom is just starting out, so early partners help shape what it becomes. We’d love to build this with you, whether through a pilot or a joint project such as an EU-funded programme.
SciBloom is hosted in the EU and built to meet GDPR.
Over 100 researchers signed up in SciBloom’s first weeks. Now we’re inviting institutions to pilot it with us for free and shape it around their researchers.
Built by a scientist who saw how much researchers needed this, and decided to take action. Read Alicia's story
